Until recently, the lack of home- and community-based Medicaid services did not make it easy for individual families to fund home health care. This is where the Maryland Community First Choice (CFC) program comes into play.

The Maryland CFC program offers a relatively new option for funding elder health care. As such, it is a prime example of the kind of home- and community-based Medicaid services currently on offer in the state of Maryland. The CFC program is a part of the Affordable Care Act, and it allows families to fund elder care through Medicaid.

The program aims to serve people who would typically be in a care facility. The CFC program allows residents to get that care at home by defraying the cost of home health care.

Among the many advantages of the CFC program as it is administered in Maryland is the fact that there is no cap on the number of citizens who can be enrolled. Anyone who qualifies can receive care. Anyone who qualifies for Medicaid is eligible to apply.

The Community Personal Assistance Services program (CPAS) serves individuals who need help with the activities of daily living (ADL). If your loved one is qualified for Medicaid, they may be eligible for this program. Under this program, Touching Angels caregivers can provide assistance with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and mobility.
